Pension service goes to bingo
The government's Pension Service is sending employees off to bingo halls during working hours - to advise pensioners on whether they are getting their maximum benefits.
Officials from the Pension Service will be visiting Mecca and Gala bingo halls in coming months to check whether players are claiming their maximum entitlement for their pension. An estimated 1.8 million pensioners are missing out on nearly £2.9 billion of payments each year, according to the government.
How will these employees talk to the bingo players? Will they wear their uniform and name badges? Will they join in the game? Will they have meaningful conversations? Will they hand out flyers?...
